Design and construction professionals exist simultaneously on three levels of related and overlapping relationships: the owner client, the design team and all of the project participants, contributors, or consumers. While there are similar themes, each “zone” presents unique challenges and risks such that a separate approach is warranted. David Ericksen of Severson & Werson has developed a strategic model and toolbox for professional success in each zone. We are honored to have David present these core project models in the form of 3 separate webinars series.
SERIES ONE:
In the Core Zone: The Prime Relationship For design professionals, the core of any project is the relationship with the actual owner or developer of the project. In fact, that core relationship spans the entire project from client and project selection through contracting, programming and design, project delivery, and closeout. This fundamental relationship is based on respect, communication, and commitments in contracts in otherwise. This program presents a cohesive and sequential model for that relationship which also establishes the anticipated framework for the other project-related relationships.
Participants will learn the following objectives:
- Appreciate the importance of client and project selection as a part of professional success.
- Develop the scope of work and contract as a means of establishing a realistic and deliverable project framework.
- Develop the key events and schedule for client communication in project delivery.
- Establish project closeout tools and procedures to bring resolution and avoid lingering issues.
