Most construction project owners and managers object to the concept of betterment on the grounds that compensating for errors is unreasonable and should not be expected. In essence, betterment is a legal doctrine that states: If a component of a construction project is omitted from drawings or construction documents, then the later addition of this component after discovery is something the owner should pay for.
